Move General Coaches to the Center of Trains

The positioning of general coaches at the extreme ends of long-distance trains in India poses significant risks and severe inconveniences to millions of budget-class commuters daily. Since major platform amenities, including food stalls and water facilities, are centrally located, passengers from general compartments are forced to sprint across platforms during brief halts. This chaotic rush often leads to fatal boarding accidents. Shifting general compartments to the center of the train would grant equal access to station amenities, prevent dangerous platform rushes, and streamline boarding. This post advocates for urgent railway reforms to ensure equitable comfort, accessibility, and safety for all passengers.
