Vembuva Bridge: A Dangerous Curve in Kannur
Vembuva Bridge: A Dangerous Curve in Kannur
The Vembuva Bridge, located across the Moorykadavu River between Payyavur and Poopparamba on the Kannur Malayoora Highway, has turned into a permanent death trap. Constructed unscientifically without adhering to proper curve design standards, vehicles entering the bridge at high speeds are caught off guard by a sudden, sharp curve and steep incline immediately after crossing. Despite over 15 years since its inauguration and numerous fatal accidents, including the tragic demise of a military soldier, authorities have failed to install adequate warning signs. With the upcoming Karkidaka Vavu festival drawing hundreds to the nearby Vasavapuram Temple, immediate PWD intervention is crucial.
