About KSRTC ticket cess
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been levying an additional passenger cess on its bus tickets for the past twelve years. Initially introduced as a temporary measure to stabilize the financial losses of the state-run transport system and support employee welfare funds, this additional burden continues to trouble regular commuters. As public transport forms the backbone of Kerala’s daily mobility, escalating travel expenses directly hit the common man's pocket. It is high time the state government intervened to withdraw this long-standing cess, ensuring affordable transit for everyone and encouraging citizens to rely heavily on green public transportation networks.
